Curry 101

Now you can bring the exotic flavor and pleasure of Indian cooking into your home. We have assembled four of the most popular spice ingredients used in Indian cuisine which will put you well on your way to exploring and enjoying the fine food which comes from that part of the world.

Curry Madras: Blend Curry Madras with some melted butter and brush on fish before grilling or broiling. Curry Madras is also good on roasted potatoes. Delicious with lamb, beef, chicken, and vegetables. Try a little in scrambled eggs and tomato dishes.

Tandoori: Use Tandoori spice as a rub for meats prior to cooking (traditionally in Tandoor ovens). Used primarily in Indian cuisines it creates a unique and flavorful taste to chicken, lamb and even baked fish. Mix with yogurt and lemon juice to marinate chicken. Add a dash to barbecue and buffalo wing marinades, pasta sauces, and gravies.

Hot Curry: Blend Hot Curry with some melted butter and brush on fish before grilling or broiling. Use in sauces and marinades to create a unique and warm flavor. Adds a rich golden color to everything from soups and sauces to stews. Try adding curry powder to deviled eggs and egg salads.

Garam Masala: Garam Masala creates a sweetened and finished taste to curries and soups. Garam Masala is often added as an ingredient in other curry powders. It goes well with fish, onions, cauliflower, and potatoes. Delicious when sprinkled on grilled lamb, pork, and poultry, and other meats. Mix a little with yogurt to create an interesting dip.
